Keto Desserts: Macadamia Almond Brazil Peanut Brittle

Sugar Free Chocolate Desserts

Making nut brittle doesn’t have to be restricted to peanut brittle. You can use other nuts for these tasty sugar free desserts, like pecans. When you’re making keto desserts and Paleo desserts, then what’s important is that they contain primarily fat and protein and are low in carbs. This is true for sugar free ice cream desserts and low carb ice cream desserts as well.

What other types of nuts could you add? Why not try this recipe that adds macadamia nuts, almonds, brazil nuts and peanuts all at the same time? Talk about flavor intensity in the nut department!

Macadamia nuts contain the most fat per serving of any nut. They have 21 grams fat for every ounce. Their fat content is 2.2 grams protein while their carbohydrates is 4 grams. That small amount of nuts actually ends up providing 58% of the daily value for manganese and 23% of the daily value for thiamine, vitamin B1.

Many nuts have far too many omega 6 fats, which are tied in with inflammation in the body, but macadamias have far less omega 6 fats than most other nuts. They also contain omega-8 fats, which helps improve memory and cognitive function.  If you want nuts for the purpose of reducing cholesterol, macadamias can help, according to the research studies.

Brazil nuts are one of the very best sources of selenium in the diet. One little ounce of nuts – about six nuts total contains up to 544 mcg selenium. That’s a lot, and according to the US Department of Agriculture Food Composition Database, the selenium content can vary widely.

You only need about 70 mcg selenium daily, but the big problem is that many people – especially women are low in this mineral. Since selenium is so important for thyroid health, it’s easy to see there’s a direct connection between selenium intake and thyroid health.
