Keto Bomb Dessert Recipes: Cinnamon Nut Pie Crust

Keto Desserts Store Bought

Can pies possibly be one of many good-tasting keto bomb dessert recipes (paleo desserts) and sugar-free desserts? And still taste great? The answer is yes. In fact, with sweeteners like xylitol and erythritol, both of which are great for baking, you can enjoy virtually any dessert, pastry, or cold treat that you used to enjoy with sugar—and know that it’s keto friendly.

When you’re on a ketogenic diet or Paleo diet, the regular pie crusts won’t cut it any more. They’re made from flour–and that won’t work. IF you eat them, they will set your progress towards ketosis back a few days–minimally.

You need a good pie crust substitute when you’re making sugar free desserts in the pie category. The answer to this is actually pretty easy.

Simply grind up nuts, add a little flavor and sweetener and try it as a pie crust. You might like the flavor better. (I do – and occasionally if I sample a bite of a regular old style pie, when I taste the crust, I think to myself how unflavorful it really was.)

This cinnamon nut pie crust goes well with most Paleo desserts pie fillings or Keto desserts pie fillings. It also goes well with a sugar free ice cream (low carb ice cream) added as a topping, and then topped further with a coconut milk whipped cream. The possibilities are endless. Below is an example of tasty keto bomb dessert recipes.

Cinnamon Nut Pie Crust

Yields one pie crust

Ingredients

½ cup ground almonds
½ cup ground walnuts
½ cup ground pecans
1 teaspoon cinnamon
2 tablespoons water
4 drops liquid stevia

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 250F.
  2. Line an 8-inch pie pan with parchment paper.
  3. Mix the nuts, cinnamon and stevia in a medium-sized bowl.
  4. Then add water to moisten the nuts. If more water is needed, add it by only a tablespoon at a time. The consistency you are looking for is a moist nut meal that will press into a pie pan easily.
  5. Press the mixture into the pie pan, covering all areas.
  6. Bake at 250F for 25 minutes. Remove from oven.
  7. Let the pie crust cool completely.
  8. Then add your filling. Bake at regular oven temperature.

Notes:

  1. The reason why you’re baking the crust at a low temperature is to avoid overbaking. This is especially important when you are adding a filling that needs to be baked.
  2. When you remove the crust from the oven, it should be partially baked, not fully baked. The rest of the cooking time with the filling added will finish off the baking of the pie crust.
  3. Some cooks will take extra caution that the pie crust on the sides of the pan will not burn. To do this, they may decide to cover the edges of the pie pan with tinfoil. It’s an easy strategy to implement.

How to Vary Keto Bomb Dessert Recipes

  1. You could change the nut mixture in this recipe. Why not add brazil nuts and minus the pecans? Or use primarily walnuts with only ¼ cup almonds? Or add ¼ cup cashews and decrease the walnuts? Whatever your heart desires in the nut category, give it a whirl.
  2. You could change the spice mixture in this recipe. You could go for more of a pumpkin pie spice combination with allspice, nutmeg, cloves, and cinnamon. Or even a chai tea spice combination with cardamom added.

Sugar Free Desserts: Salted Chocolate Chip Nut Butter Cookies

Keto And Paleo Desserts

What I see often is that some of the most stressed outpatients are the ones who stay away from salt. They eat the ketogenic diet that contains keto desserts and all these are sugar-free desserts and that’s good. It’s a good start. They love sugar free ice cream – and who wouldn’t since it won’t cause diabetes or sugar rushes. It’s a low carb ice cream.

The fact is that salt is essential for the body. Yes, you’ll find it in meats and dairy products and processed foods, but it may not be enough for you if you’re on a ketogenic diet. You may need to salt your foods, and when you do, your adrenal gland is happier for doing it. Salt contains sodium, which is an electrolyte and electrolytes are important for the body. You’ll die without them.

Yes, many people also don’t get enough potassium. You’ll hear me talking about that on my programs. The potassium comes in the diet by eating large quantities of vegetables.

So don’t be afraid of adding a little bit of salt to your sugar free desserts such as this salted chocolate chip nut butter cookie recipe or even your sugar free ice cream. The salt actually brings out the flavor of the chocolate much better!

Funny Ice Cream Facts

This cookie recipe goes really well with sugar-free ice cream and low carb ice cream.

  1. Ben and Jerry’s often retires ice cream flavors that aren’t popular. When they do, the flavors go into an actual physical graveyard. I wonder if they have a Paleo desserts section or keto desserts section in the graveyard!
  1. If an ice cream sundae was 12 foot tall, it would make about 70,000 people happy to eat a sundae of their own. I hope the next 12 foot sundae is among the sugar free desserts we can enjoy.
